Before you begin a rehab program, it’s important to know what to expect. Once you arrive, you’ll spend the majority of your time at The Recovery Village at Palmer Lake. You’ll eat and sleep here, participate in regular counseling and therapy sessions, and make valuable connections with other residents. You’ll be part of a community that understands the challenges you’ve experienced due to addiction and you’ll be in an environment that moves you toward healing and self-improvement.
Knowing what to bring with you and what to leave at home can help you focus on recovery during treatment.
While the facility will supply residents with some items, we recommend brining at least two weeks worth of season-appropriate clothing, as well as enough toiletries and other necessities to last for 30 days. Arriving prepared will reduce your stress and allow for a seamless transition into focusing on treatment and recovery. We ask that you please bring no more than two (2) bags/pieces of luggage. Anything more than what may fit in two pieces of luggage will be placed in storage for your full stay.
Palmer Lake, Colorado, can experience frigid temperatures during the winter. Patients should pack at least two weeks worth of season-appropriate clothing, especially jackets, sweaters and other long-sleeved shirts if they plan on traveling to the facility during the winter. Summer can reach temperatures upwards of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, but some clients may still need a jacket for indoors or chilly evenings. To ensure that clients stay focused on recovery, we prohibit any overly revealing articles of clothing, including tank tops and short shorts. We also do not allow any clothing items that allude to drugs or alcohol, or with obscene images or phrases.
The facility includes an exercise gym, swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts and nearby walking trails. You may also go on off-site field trips. Make sure to pack comfortable outfits to enjoy any of these potential recreational activities. For water activities, ladies should wear one-piece swimsuits and men should wear knee-length board shorts.
